Zenith, written by both Lindsay Cummings and Sasha Alsberg was actually one of my top three books. Now there’s a lot of good books out there, and there’s so many I love. But for some reason my mind would wander to this one whenever I thought “favorite”. Let’s start with the reasons I enjoyed this as much as I did, for starters, I couldn’t help but fall for the characters as much as I did. Second, the plot (obviously). Third, the writing. And last, the ending.
Now whenever someone likes a book, you always know that they liked the plot and characters (at least most of the characters). To enjoy a book these two just have to go hand in hand! The reason I liked the characters so much was because they were all so different. From personalities, to looks, all of it. And, their backstories just really made them stand out to me. Also, all of these characters were so strong it was just inspiring and entertaining. To read that mixing pot of characters made the novel captivating.
The plot was complex and filled with action that it kept me begging for more. I loved seeing the change of scenery and going around the galaxy with the characters and seeing as they accomplished all of their challenges. I also liked the subplot that was included. It gave the book a little something that tipped it over the edge.
Next up is the writing. Since I want to be an author, good writing is crucial to me. And with not one but two authors, I expected the writing to be choppy, and you would clearly see that there was two people writing it- but no. It flowed perfectly together and you would never had thought that there was two people writing this. And having to create world after world can be difficult, letting the reader to see the world as you see it in your head is hard, but Alsberg and Cummings did it. I could picture it in my mind as if it was a painting hung in front of me.
Lastly, we have the ending. Believe it or not I can be kind of picky about how I a book should end; half the time it makes me upset because that was most definitely not how the author should have ended the book and sometimes, series. I won’t spoil anything, but the ending was perfect. Leaving it up for the imagination, but also not letting it be just sitting there.
All in all, I would 100% recommend this novel if you are looking for an entertaining read.
