Note: I didn't finish the novel, it was too painful in a way to continue. I'm just going to dive into this- honesty is always the best policy, even if it's not the greatest. I try to keep this blog as positive as I can, but that's not always the case! People deserve to know when you thought a book wasn't all that. Believe it or not whenever I finish a book I don't like, (or just put it down) I put a light blue sticky thing on it. This reminds me I didn't like the novel and I need to write a review on it! My first unpleasant review was for The Amateurs. I want to keep it positive but it's always good to have that balance. This novel, The Fates Divide written by Veronica Roth, was a huge letdown! In this review we'll highlight writing, plot, and overall disappointment. The Amateurs link here > https://wedreaminchapters.com/review/the-amateurs/
Writing
The writing is not how I remember it. I remember it being brilliant to say the least. Veronica Roth could make worlds and characters come to life with the snap of her fingers, and you could imagine it all with ease! Carve The Mark was such an amazing novel I was super excited when The Fates Divide came out! And then I started to read it. The writing was just not the same, I don't know if that's just me but it seemed amateur-ish.
Plot
I won't spoil anything but within the first few chapters the plot seemed to go down the drain. It just didn't make any sense! The characters were just kind of floating in space. Also, not to mention with the events that occurred it made it seem like the last book was pointless. Once again, this is just me. A lot of people seemed to enjoy it but I just couldn't get into it!
Overall Disappointment
This is where I really get into it. First of all as you know the writing and plot were disappointing and gave the novel an amateur feel. Secondly I'll just say one single word- Wattpad. The Fates Divide seemed like a Wattpad fanfiction. It seemed like the only time you saw Cyra and Akos together was when it was getting hot and heavy too! There wasn't really any substance to them any more!
Given these point I sadly would not recommend this novel. There was no substance and overall felt like a cheesy fanfiction. When the first book was so good, and so was the authors other novels are widely known, it's disheartening to see this.
Thanks for the honest review, keep up the good work!
Your review is excellent and also your awareness of keeping a balance. To praise every book, or trash every book, will damage your credibility. Your reviews are as good as I read on national media.

Bella, you write like a real professional. Some book reviews are boring, but yours are interesting and insightful and so well written. What does Wattpad fanfiction mean? That’s a new word to me.
